skadii Smart Automation helps you respond more quickly to critical situations. The application automates processes according to the principle **“If this happens, then perform this action”**.

Define specific conditions for this. As soon as a condition is met, Smart Automation automatically triggers the designated action.

Smart Automation includes two functions:

* **Smart Alert:** Define conditions for critical events. As soon as a condition occurs, Smart Alert sends a push notification to the selected users. This allows the responsible people to respond immediately without having to monitor dashboards manually at all times.
* **Smart Zone:** Create virtual geographic zones for snow groomers and define automatic actions for entering or leaving a zone. For example, automatically reduce the speed of a snow groomer as soon as it enters a safety-critical area.

While **Smart Alert** informing the responsible people about critical events, **Smart Zone** automates location-based processes and responses for the operation of snow groomers. This makes operational processes run more safely, more efficiently, and with less manual effort.

Smart Alert is a function of **Smart Automation**, which automatically informs you about critical events on your systems or vehicles.

Define a rule, for example:

* Wind speed over 40 km/h
* ropeway stops for longer than 1 minute
* snow groomer engine speed above the defined limit
* temperature above a critical value

As soon as the defined condition occurs, the selected users receive a push notification in the **skadii Mobile App**. This allows the responsible people to respond immediately without having to monitor dashboards manually at all times.

Use Smart Alert whenever you want to be informed immediately about an **important operational event.**

For example, create a Smart Alert when:

* a ropeway unexpectedly stops,
* the wind speed exceeds a safe limit,
* a snow groomer exceeds a defined engine speed or speed,
* a machine or outside temperature rises above a critical value, or
* a defined machine value is above or below a certain threshold for a specific period.

Smart Alert currently supports **ropeways and fleet vehicles**. The available monitoring options depend on the telemetry signals of the selected system or vehicle.

Currently monitor the following with Smart Alert:

* **ropeways**
* **fleet vehicles**, for example snow groomers

Examples for ropeways:

* Engine speed
* Travel speed
* Milling speed
* Engine coolant temperature
* Hydraulic oil temperature
* Rope traction force

Note that the available signals depend on the respective system type and the telemetry data available.

During the free beta version, create a maximum of **five Smart Alerts per workspace**.

If you try to create a sixth Smart Alert, an error message will appear. If necessary, deactivate or delete a Smart Alert you no longer need before creating a new one.

If necessary, add the name of the system or vehicle. This way, your team can immediately see what the Smart Alert was set up for.

When creating the Smart Alert, open the area for selecting the assets.

There, select:

* a single system or a single vehicle,
* multiple systems or vehicles of the same type, or
* all desired vehicles of a fleet.

For example, you can:

* monitor a specific snow groomer, such as **Bison B0 #1**,
* multiple ropeways, or
* all snow groomers in a fleet.

Depending on the vehicle and the available telemetry data, you can select the following signals, for example:

* Engine speed
* Vehicle speed
* Milling speed
* Engine coolant temperature

* Winch traction force

Select the signal relevant for the monitoring you want.

Define a condition when creating the Smart Alert.

For this, define:

1. **Comparison:** For example, choose “greater than”, “less than”, or “equal to”.
2. **Threshold:** Enter the desired value, for example 1,500 rpm.
3. **Duration:** Optionally, define how long the condition must be met.

Examples:

* Engine speed is higher than **1,500 rpm**.
* Wind speed is higher than **40 km/h**.
* Ropeway travel speed is equal for longer than one minute. **0**.
* Engine coolant temperature is above the defined limit.

<summary><strong>When do I use a duration for the trigger condition?</strong></summary>

Use a duration when a Smart Alert should not be triggered for every short-term deviation.

Choose between:

* **Trigger immediately:** Trigger the Smart Alert as soon as the condition is met.
* **Trigger after a specific duration:** Trigger the Smart Alert only if the condition persists longer than the defined time.

Example:

For a ropeway stop, define the condition **“Linear speed = 0 for longer than 1 minute”** in this way. This prevents a notification from being sent immediately for every very short stop.

<summary><strong>How do I define when a Smart Alert is active?</strong></summary>

Define the active period of the Smart Alert when creating it.

Select:

* **“Always active”**, if the condition should be monitored at all times, or
* a **specific period**, if monitoring should only take place during defined operating hours.

When creating the Smart Alert, select one or more users as recipients.

Note:

* Only the selected users receive the notification.
* The notification is sent as a push notification via the skadii Mobile App.
* Assign the Smart Alert preferably to the people who can respond to the event.

Proceed as follows:

* Define when the Smart Alert should be triggered.
* If necessary, define how long the condition must be met.
* Determine the period during which the Smart Alert should be active.
* Then select the users who should receive a notification.

Check the displayed summary before creating it.

Pay particular attention to:

* the name of the Smart Alert,
* the selected systems or vehicles,
* the selected signal,
* the comparison and the threshold,
* the defined duration,
* the active period, and
* the selected recipients.

Then click **“Create”**, to activate the Smart Alert.

* The selected users receive a **push notification** on their smartphone in the skadii Mobile App.
* The users can respond to the situation immediately.

Permanent manual monitoring of the dashboard is not required.

* Use the **switch to the left of the title**, to turn the Smart Alert on or off:
  * **Switch left:** The Smart Alert is deactivated.
  * **Switch right:** The Smart Alert is activated.

An activated Smart Alert monitors the defined condition and notifies the selected users as soon as it is met. A deactivated Smart Alert performs no monitoring and sends no notifications.

Only delete Smart Alerts that are no longer needed. If you want to use a Smart Alert again later, deactivate it temporarily instead.

You need the permission **“Smart Alert Manager”**, to fully manage Smart Alerts.

The permission currently still has the technical name:

With this permission, you can:

* view all existing Smart Alerts,
* create new Smart Alerts,
* activate or deactivate Smart Alerts,
* edit conditions,
* adjust assets and recipients, and
* delete no-longer-needed Smart Alerts.

<summary><strong>Which permission do I need to view Smart Alerts only?</strong></summary>

You need the permission **“Smart Alert Viewer”**, if you only want to view existing Smart Alerts.

The technical name is:

With this permission, you can view all existing Smart Alerts, but not create, edit, or delete them.

<summary><strong>Why can’t I create or edit a Smart Alert?</strong></summary>

Check whether the permission **“Smart Alert Manager”** has been assigned to you.

If you can only view Smart Alerts, you may only have the permission **“Smart Alert Viewer”**.

Contact your skadii administrator if you need additional user rights.
